AHK business trip “Energy efficiency and renewable energies in public buildings” Romania, November 2nd to 6th, 2020

Context

The energy efficiency of buildings is a priority of EU policy and aims to promote green energy. The countries of the European Union must therefore prepare long-term sustainable strategies in order to achieve the goals set. For public buildings in Romania, support for energy efficiency, intelligent energy management and use from renewable sources must also be a main priority for a sustainable development. At national level, final energy consumption in the construction sector accounts for 42% of total final energy consumption, of which 34% are residential buildings and the remaining around 8% correspond to commercial and public buildings (agenda construcțiilor).

According to the national strategy for long-term renovation to support the national park of public and private residential and non-residential buildings in a highly efficient energy park by 2050, the public sector should play a demonstrative role and take a leading role by redeveloping 8.25 million m2 (26%) of public buildings by 2030. Such an achievement would reduce energy consumption by 0.05 million toe and save 0.25 million tons of CO2 emissions in the period 2021-2030. To achieve this goal, two programs need to be implemented, namely a national long-term program for state public buildings and a long-term national program for municipal public buildings. Regarding energy saving, significant results are achieved from the in-depth renovation or the nZEB renovation (Near Zero Energy Building) of public buildings, lighting and systems for the use of renewable energy sources. The concept of nZEB (near zero energy building) in buildings means that they have an extremely low energy consumption – almost zero, which is at least 10% covered with energy from renewable sources. NZEB buildings are very energy efficient.

About our project

Taking into account the existing potential, AHK Romania is carrying out a Romanian-German economic cooperation project on the subject of “Energy efficiency and renewable energies in public buildings”. This project is dedicated to the Romanian and German companies interested in the development of bilateral economic relations in the field of energy efficiency in buildings. The aim is to promote German systems and products in this area on site and to initiate Romanian-German partnerships in the energy sector. The project is financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Germany as part of the program “Energy Solutions made in Germany“.
